Olay Complete Care Daily UV Fluid SPF15 Review

As seen on beautyjudge.com

must admit that I don't really rate Olay for packaging. As much as I try not to be drawn in by fancy packaging, I am a bit of a magpie, and do end up purchasing some products purely because they look pretty.

What Olay lacks in the quality of its packaging, it certainly makes up for in the quality of its products.

This is a fantastic moisturiser for those of us with oily/combination skin. I find that some moisturising "creams" are too heavy duty for my skin and can leave my skin with a greasy residue and looking shiny. This product is a fluid, it is a thinner and more lightweight constistency. It absorbs quickly on the surface of the skin and leaves skin feeling hydrated and refreshed. It leaves my skin feeling primed well for applying my make up.

I have the sensitive formulation of the product. I have used the product everyday for the past 2-3 weeks and have not experienced any adverse reactions - redness, itching etc.

Another bonus of this product is that it contains SPF15. I believe that having an SPF is one of the most important factors when choosing your daily moisturiser - especially in current climates.

This product is very affordable at under £5 for a fantastic 100ml. You don't need much of the fluid when applying it to the face - a little goes a long way.

The only disadvantages to this product in my eyes are the bland packaging and the fact that the product does not have a pump dispenser.

This is a fantastic product for someone with sensitive oily/combination skin in the summer months.

Product Review: Nivea Refreshing Toner

Is it possible to be addicted to a toner? I am completely in love with this stuff and I look forward to putting it on in the morning after my shower and in the evening before I go to bed.

Anyone who has read previous reviews of mine knows that I think that skin care should be an investment and many of the products that I use or recommend are more expensive than regular drugstore products - but that is because they work for me. This is a VERY affordable product which works well for me too and I definitely plan the repurchase it - price isn't everything guys.

This toner really is refreshing! When I put it on my skin after my cleanser it feels so cooling and hydrating. This is a great toner for really getting the rubbish out of your pores - anything that my cleanser won't shift - this does the job.

This toner isn't too harsh on my skin, I have sensitive skin and many toners are too harsh. Usually toners strip my skin of moisture, cause me to break out in red sore patches and make my face oilier - causing me to break out into acne. This doesn't do that. I feel that it hydrates my skin whilst working as a toner at the same time - it feels soothing on my skin. I feel that this helps to keep my pores in check and helps keep my oily skin at bay.

The formula smells incredible - It really does smell lovely. It is a pleasure to use this product. You get a lot of product too - I have had mine for a couple of months and I am not even half way through the bottle yet.

I cannot express how much I recommend this product - it is accessible, affordable and gives great results.

*I must stress that my review is based on how this product interacted with my skin (oily and sensitive). You may not get the same results dependent on your own skin type. This review is based on this toner being used in conjunction with a good skincare routine - remember to cleanse, tone and moisturise guys!

MAC Pigments: A Review

Review as seen on beautyjudge.com

MAC pigments are stunning. Anyone who loves stand-out statement eyes will love these products. Your eyes will really pop on photos with a mac pigment.

MAC have many shades of pigment. If you aren't too keen on spending £15 on a pigment then think about getting one that is versatile - such as MACs vanilla pigment which you can use as a highlighter too - it looks great under the brow bone and when placed in the inner corners of the eye.

The pigment in these shadows is incredibly intense. You need a very small amount - literally a light dab of the brush and you will have enough product to cover one if not both of your eyes well. If you want real intensity then use a couple of coats - the thing with pigment is build up the colour by dabbing it onto your lid with a flat shadow brush - don't dunk a fluffy shadow brush into the pigment and start swirling it all over your eye lid or you are going to have fallout all over your face! The thing about pigments that I love is how well they blend - you can create some seriously stunning looks. They blend effortlessly.

I always use a base with any pigment to make sure it stays on - I would say that MACs staying power without a base is better than that of Barry M's Dazzle Dusts.

Sometimes I like to wet my brush when applying the pigment - to create a paint pot like texture - and then go over with another eyeshadow - for example I like to put black eyeshadow over my teal paint pot.

The best thing about these pigments is that they seem to last forever! I have had mine for so long and they look like they haven't been touched! They are a versatile product! Mix them with clear nail varnish for a unique nail polish! Mix them with clear gloss for a new gloss colour!

I really recommend anyone who loves experimenting with their eye make up for purchase a mac pigment!

I Love Glamour

Hi guys,

I have been looking everywhere for a copy (or 3) of this months glamour. If you are wondering why I have been obsessing over this magazine - it is for one simple reason - FREE MAKE UP. I am sure most of you are aware by now that Glamour are giving away free benefit make up this month. The products up for grabs are eye bright, bag gal eyeliner and the it stick. They are all full size and should retail at £15 each. Glamour magazine costs £2 - 3 magazine costs you £6.. 3 products for £6 instead of £45 - BARGAIN!

I had given up on trying to get the Benefit freebies when I couldn't find a Glamour magazine anywhere this week. Thankfully my local Tesco restocked their shelves with Glamour today. There were 3 left when I arrived - each containing a different freebie. I did go a little bit crazy when I saw them!

My message to you - if you haven't managed to get hold of Glamour yet - Keep looking!! :)

Johnson's Holiday Skin Review

As seen on beautyjudge.com

I must say that as a pale blonde who loves a tan but always burns when this product came out a few years ago I was dying to try it.

I really hate the whole laborious process of applying fake tan - wearing a mit, trying to get it off my hands after, getting it all over my pyjamas or clothing in the morning - I thought this was the answer to my prayers - but it wasn't. At first I thought that I had just had overly high expectations of the product - but after further use.. I believe it really is just a bad product.

Firstly the smell - this product really does have the classic "biscuit" smell.. this is one of the worst smelling fake tan products I have ever used. It manages to make your clothing and bedding smell - and I have had several friends comment on a smell which seems to be following them round - which was Me (after I have showered may I add) and my holiday skin coated body! This stuff seems to seep out of your pores none stop - It made me feel sticky and uncomfortable all day long - no perfume will mask this stuff!

Secondly the results - I find that this product ALWAYS goes streaky. At first I blamed myself - I must be applying it wrong - but after careful application my legs always looked patchy - the colour distribution was awful. Take extra special care if you are applying this to your elbows, ankles and knees. If you apply the fake tan moisturiser the next night it tends to go even patchier - If you try to wash it off it goes flakey, you really can't win with this product.

Whatever you do DON'T put this on your face - it goes very greasy, breaks you out within 24 hours and makes you look like you are suffering from jaundice - be warned.

I find this product over time very drying. I began developing patches of dry skin on my shins and even small reddened areas began appearing. The product really disagreed with me.

If you are considering getting a fake tan moisturiser for everyday use I would suggest Dove's Summer Glow which I think works better and smells less offensive!

Gradu-hating or Glad-uation?

Ok, so I am graduating from University this year - hello real world and responsibility. I must say I have mixed feelings regarding graduating - I am happy that 10 hour sessions in the library will be long gone and repressed forever but I am also bricking having to work the 9-5 and act like an adult (maybe). I am also relocating to Birmingham for my graduate job and this is probably adding to my graduation stress.

Another contributing factor to my graduation woes is what slap to wear on the day? As I will be having proofessional photographs taken which will probably grace my mother's living room wall for half a century I don't want to look like I am off on a night out to Gatecrasher, on the other hand I don't want to look half dead.

So my question is - what did you/ or would wear to your graduation? and if you are graduating from university or leaving school or sixth form - how are you feeling about it?

Paws for thought:

Are w7 nail polishes really a one coat wonder?

Just applied w7 nail polish in "Grey" - impressed with the ease of application - the brush is incredibly easy to work with and distributes lots of product evenly. I love, love, love the colour - a deep charcoal grey! Stay tuned for update on how this product copes with a day or two in the life of Emma..

A Haul lot of fun..

Today I had a mad dash around my local discount cosmetic store - you know the kind of place - sells products available in the UK under a different name, label is in another language etc. As I was strapped for time I didn't get much - but I was pretty pleased with my super speedy purchases.

First I picked up a Zeal Tanning mitt. I can never find tanning mitts anywhere - so I was pleasantly suprised when I came across this. If anyone does know where I can pick up a tanning mitt can you let me know?! I think there is nothing worse than managing to get a streak-free tan, only to end up with hands which glow as though they are radioactive.

I picked up 4 nail varnishes. 3 from w7 and 1 revlon. I must admit that I thought I had stumbled across a huge crate of OPI nail varnishes in the store. After getting overexcited I realised that the varnishes I had come across were infact we7 - their packaging is almost identical to OPI! The colour selection is fantastic - I picked up the colours Grey, Lavender Pearl and Suede! The revlon nail varnish I bought was in Sheer Mauve.

I purchased two lipsticks - one revlon (superlusterous lipstick : pearl finish: silver city pink) and the other maybelline (watershine diamonds: iridescent rose diamonds: 111). Both very light nudey pinks - sheer and subtle with a hint of sparkle.

After asking the assistant if she knew of a good full coverage concealer available in the store. She immediately recommended the Fudge camouflage concealer in light no.1. I have heard many good things regarding Fudge's hair product line but haven't come across any reviews of their make up line. I will give this product a fair trial and let you know!

Finally I purchased Rimmel's lasting finish mineral powder foundation in ivory. I must admit that I am a mineral foundation virgin - as I have always been happy with the coverage and finish that my Revlon colourstay has given me. Being new to mineral foundations I didn't want to spend a fortune - so I thought that this product would introduce me to the world of mineral make up without breaking the bank.

Sorry for the lack of photos guys - my blackberry produces pics of a terrible quality and I currently camera-less due to an incident involving leaking batteries! Hopefully I will be equipped with a camera soon and filling your blog feed with my dire photography skills.

Get a St. Tropez style summer glow with St. Moritz

purchased this product after hearing about it on lollipop26's youtube channel. I was a bit sceptical as I had decided to go for the "pale and interesting" look after so many fake tan disasters (to the amusement of my flat mates). I was wrong to be sceptical.

This product really is fantastically good value for money - I was shocked with how good the results were for such a low priced product...

This is allegedly a copy of St. Tropez's tanning mousse which retails at £20 for 120ml..only this product retails at £2.99 for 200ml!!!

I like the fact that this is a tinted mousse - you can see where you are applying and where you have missed. The colour takes around 4-6 hours to develop - and when it does develop it doesn't give you an orange tan - but a beautiful bronzed beach tan!It dries quickly on application and it didn't stain my clothes or my bedding - like so many others have! When I woke, I showered and the results were spectacular - no streaks, no horrific ankles, knees or elbows and no biscuity smell. My tan looked flawless. The fragrance of this product isn't overly offensive - once you have showered I find that you can't smell anything - unlike other fake tans that seem to make you feel smelly and sticky all day..You don't go through tonnes of the stuff either when you are applying - I feel like I haven't really dipped into my 200mls yet!

My only suggestion to you regarding this product is that you use a tanning mitt or latex gloves when applying instead of "washing hands after application" as the product suggests you can do. I used my hands and I couldn't get the stuff to budge.

This is a very reasonably priced fake tan BUT it isn't very accessible. I have heard that you get get it from the T J Hughes website and some discount cosmetics websites such as fragrance direct. I got mine from home bargains - so if there is a home bargains store near you then keep your eye out.

I would definitely recommend this product to frequent fake tanners - and also to faketan-phobes such as myself!

*I would like to stress that I always exfoliate and moisturise before applying fake tan - and my results and review of the product is based on this.

High Beam...

This is a fantastic highlighter for pale skin tones (for those of you who are more warm toned then you should use moon beam).

This product looks great over the top of your foundation. Its good to highlight your cheekbones and browbone for more definition. I apply my highlighter in a "C" shape going around the eye.. from the middle of the brow bone to my cheekbone.

The formula stays on all day - you won't need to take this out with you for reapplication!

The good thing about this highlighter is that it isn't too glittery - if you apply it well then it will give you an effotless natural glow. I find that this product looks really nice when a little is applied to the cupids bow of your top lip - it really makes your upper lip look fuller and plumper.

For those of you who want to add a glow to your entire face - you can add a little of the moon beam formula to your foundation for a fresh faced look - similar principle to Eyeko's highlighting cream.

This product lasts forever as you don't need to use lots - a couple of dabs of the product will more than do the trick.

I think with this product you need to experiment with it first to get good results. I always find that it is best to pat this product in with my fingers onto the skin as opposed to rubbing it in or using a brush. If you rub the highlighter into the skin I find that it can make the area look patchy. I do think that you need to blend it well for the best results.

Another thing that I am not to keen on regarding the product is the nail varnish style applicator that it has.. I think that it would be better packaged in some other way.. or the product might be improved by having a different brush.

I do think that benefit can be too expensive sometimes and in this instance I think that product isn't that great value for money. If you love benefit products and a bit of a Benefit junky then go for it - if not then get down to superdrug and get MeMeMe's cheaper version.

It has been a while..

Hi guys,

Unfortunatley I have neglected my blog for some time now! The demands of my final year at university and looking for a job has meant that my blog had to take a back seat - but I am hoping to post much more in the near future. Stay tuned for more reviews and more rants :)
